    Dundonolfs rock must be that at Buttermilk Castle; it is quite possible that Dundonolf was the ancient name of Buttermilk Castle, and further, it is more than probable, that it is to the Pre-Norman or Danish period that this and many others of the Castles and Church ruins of the district belong.
    The rock at Buttermilk Castle is most suitable for the accomplishment of such a crime as was perpetrated by Hervey on his helpless victims. The water runs swift and deep close by the rock, and would quickly engulph any number of victims that would be thrown down its side.
