  1. About six miles from Wexford is a place known as Growtown. One night as a man by the name of John Murphy was coming by a house which is situated a mile up Growtown lane, he heard people shouting. He went to see what was wrong. When he was going in the door he saw an English soldier coming out. He hid behind the door until he came to him. He hit him on the head with a pike and killed him. He went in and saw a man dead on the ground and a woman kneeling over him. He buried the Englishman and the Irishman in the barn.
