    at present and many are in ruins now.
    Some of the people that lived in those old houses died and a few emigrated to other countries.
    The land of the village is hilly and boggy and not to good for crops.
    There are about six woods in the district two being in Ballytramont one in Ardtramont and Eden Vale wood and we have two Groves on the road to Screen.
    Ardtramont wood is the biggest. All these places are near the village.
    There is no lake in the district that I know of but there are any amount of streams here.
    There is a couple of songs composed by local poets in praise of our village hurlers and this is how one begins
    "1890 long will be remembered
    Our Shilmaliers from Wexford to Dublin they did rail
    Leinster against Munster for the Championship of Ireland
    Clontarf the place appointed for to finish
