- In the townland of the Racecourse there is a granite cross erected on the ditch beside the road. It is very substantial, and it is about two feet high. There are no inscriptions on it , or any ornamentation of any kind. No one in the neighbourhood is certain of why it was erected there, but there is a tradition that it was taken from an adjacent monastery, which was burned in the time of the Danes. This place is locally referred to as the "Crosses" although there is only one cross there.
