- One night some years ago a woman was going to visit her friends.
She hired a man to take her to the house as side-cars were used in olden times. On the way they had to pass the Skeogh Cross in the direction to Ballywilliam. As they were driving along they passed a man walking. The woman said to the driver to give the man a lift and so he did.
But when he did the horse would not go any further and the sweat pouring off him they had to ask the man for Gods sake to get down
The man did so but never spoke a word. When they arrived at their friends house the horse was in a bad way and died next day. The driver was also in a bad way and died in a short time The woman never forgot it. This woman's name was Byrne + her son is still in New Ross.(continues on next page)- Informant
