    In olden times there did only two Catholics families live in the town of Old Ross (Ballinaboola Co Wexford). All the rest of the people were called Palentines.

    The devil was not comming any farther and the Palentine asked him why he was not coming up, "Oh" says the devil "It is not the strokes that are keeping me down" and then the devil disappeared
    This happened about one hundred years ago.
