“There was a man named Pat Chapman of Barmoney coming home late one night.”
There was a man named Pat Chapman of Barmoney coming home late one night. He was coming through an ould rath that was near his house.
When he came to the stile to get out of the rath, he seen the bow (banshee) combing her hair on the stile.
He snatched the comb from her and brought it home with him.
That night he went to bed an' he heard her crying outside his window.
The father asked him what was she crying there for, an he tould him he took her comb.
The father tould him to give it back to her, but not with his hand. He tould him to get the weeding tongo and hand it back to her. Pat gave it out to her through the window. When he was handing it to her she tould him it was well for himself that he did not hand it back with his hand.- Collector
