  1. Part of Ballykilmurray school was built in 1930 and the original part was built in 1910. The new part cost £1,090. The walls are all limestone. Fr. Mulvanny was P. P. in Tullamore when it was built and Fr. Mac Manus was manager and Sean Kelly was contractor. Wynne Contractor, Dundalk who built the parish church and Christian Brothers School also built Ballykilmurray school in 1910. The site for the school was given free by Mr. Elcott. Reverend P. Callary P.P.V.G. was instrumental in having the school built in Ballykilmurray as he considered it more central than Ballycowan where the old school was.
    It is situated on a little hill three and a half miles from Tullamore and is near the Esker Riada.
