“Some years ago in the townsland of Ballycowans adjacent to the old castle as my father was working in the fields...”
Photo of a pistol. This pistol is 16 ins long. The side that was embedded in the ground is in perfect condition, but opposite side slightly decayed. “Some years ago in the townsland of Ballycowans adjacent to the old castle as my father was working in the fields. He was cutting a ditch and be side it, under a large rock he found an old pistol. It must have been very old as it was the type used hundreds of years ago.
He gave it to Mrs Horan mistress of Ballykilmurrys school on whose lands it was found and in whose accupation he was at the time. She has some photos(continues on next page)
