- (continued from previous page)churning. It was supposed to bring good luck. Other people used to put a sock of a plough in the fire and it was supposed to burn the heart out of who was taking the butter.
- Our churn is straight. It is about three feet high. It is a dash churn and is worked with the hand. Mother churns and makes the butter. When any one comes in they churn a bit. They say they leave the weight of themselves of butter on the churn. Our churn is six years old. We churn twice a week in summer and once a week in the winter.
