- There was an Old school in Lemonaghan. There was no special name for it.
It was in a barn. The barn was situated in a place called Convent. The teacher's name was Peter Mac Stay. He lodged in the one house all times.
Every morning the children used have to bring a penny with them to the teacher. In the school there was no black - board. The children used to write on slates with pieces of burned stick. There are people living still who went to that school. It was there about seventy years ago.- Bailitheoir
