    A man named Martin Daly lived in Logg, a village on the south side of the hill of Cloghan.

    One day he saw asses on the road near his house and he told the police, who came to look for them. Meantime a boy drawing turf from the Bottoms, saw the asses and put them into a field and closed the gate. The Police met this boy and asked him did he see any asses on the road.
    "No Sir" sorran ass between this and the body said the boy. The police cursed Thomson and went home.
    He lived in a lovely thatched cottage in Attinkee, where Mr Thomas Magee lives at present. He was fired at while he was inside in his house. He was not hit and got out of the house and escaped and was never seen in the locality again. The cottage was burned, the lovely thatched cottage full of curios and statues.
    The Police had a suspicion that it was the people from Park or Stonestown or Cornamona that burned it.
    Thomson gave the case to the Government and was awarded £500 compensation. Part of the £500 was
