“At Castlefield near Cadamstown, there is mass rock...”
(continued from previous page)On our farm at home is a field called the fairy field. On a moonlight night fairies were said to be seen kicking football in it. A man named Glavin lived in his house in this field. The fairies were always tormenting him. One night he met a fairy funeral in this field. After this he had to leave his house and go to America. There is another field at home called Troy's field. A woman named Mary Troy lived in an old house here. She had a small garden in which she grew potatoes. It is said that one day while digging in the garden she found a crock of gold.Near Cadamstown is a place called Castlefield. It was called so because there was a castle there owned by the O'Carroll's. There is nothing to be seen now but a few heaps of stones.- You are not logged in, but you are welcome to contribute a transcription anonymously.
