    Kinnitty in the year 1900 B.C.
    In the year 567 A.D. an abbey was founded in Kinnitty by St. Fionan "Cam".
    Colman Mór was king of Ossary defeated the Elians in a battle at Tulla in the parish of Kinnitty, Co. Offaly in the year 571 A.D.
    St. Barrind or Barrindens was abbot of Drumcullen, parish of Kinnitty in the year 590 A.D.
    Kinnitty Abbey was raided by the Danes in the year 839 A.D. Colcú, abbot of Kinnitty, died in the year 844 A.D.
    Coleman Abbot of Kinnitty was slain in Magh Ailbe in Co. Carlow in 908 A.D.
    Coleman was Chief Brehon of Ireland i.e. Lord Chief Justice.
    Kinnitty, Birr and Lorrha Castles were destroyed by O'Brien of Ara in the year 1209 A.D.
    The English restored those last three castles in 1213 A.D. (O'Carroll's caslte Kinnitty fortified in 1641)
    Hugh O'Neill marched in Fearcall (Molloys district) and remained there nine days in the year 1600 and crossed the Slieve Bloom Mountaints in 1601. O'Neill's well is east of Castle Bernard, Kinnitty, Birr.
    The Bernard family of Kinnitty settled in the Birr district in 1750.
    Colonel Bernard of Kinnitty aws High Sheriff of Offaly in 1798.
