- Oatenbread, Wholemeal bread and Bere bread were made in this district long ago. The oatenbread was made from oats and the wholemeal bread from wheat. The bere bread was made from foreign corn sent over to Ireland for the cattle and the Irish used it. The flour was made in Noonans Mill situated in Ballinurney. Butter-milk was(continues on next page)
