  1. There was a man and he lived about two miles away from here. There was another man and he used to ramble about a quarter of a mile away from home. The other man said he would frighten the other man. It was about ten o'clock he got a big white cloth and put it over his head and jumped out on the road just as the man was passing and the other man gave a big roar and ran down the road. The other man went home and the next night a man dressed in black jumped out in the very place as where he jumped out the night before and the man that went to frighten the other got more of a fright.
