- (continued from previous page)was on Friday that Columbus set sail to America. The first Monday of January which is called "Hansel Monday" is supposed to be a very lucky day to get money, if you get some on that day you would have money for the rest of the year.
The corn is sowed from the first of March to the 20th of April. Some people think that if the potatoes weren't sowed around St. Patrick's day they would not yield very well. The mangolds and turnips are sowed about the same time as potatoes.
The people say that what sort you are depends on the day you were born. Monday's child is fair of face, Tuesday's child is full of grace, Wednesday's child is loving and giving, Thursday's child has to work for its living, Friday's child is full of woe and Saturday's child has far to go. But the child that is born on the Sabbath day will always be bright and happy and gay.
The onions are sowed on the longest day and pulled on the shortest day of the year.(continues on next page)- Collector
