  1. There are not very many crosses or standing stones, in this parish. There is a very important historical stone standing in a field near my home names The Long Stone. This stone is about eight feet high.
    There are some ogham signs on it up to the present time people can't make out the meaning of those sings. A few years ago Judge Price came up to look at those stones. He took down the marks in a book and took them to Dublin, to try to get them made out.
    There was supposed to be a man of great important buried under it long ago. The stone was erected in memory of this person.
    There is also another stone situated near this field, in a field at St Lawrences O’Tooles. There is footprints on this stone. Since St Lawrence visited this part of the glen, people think that these prints are the tracks of his feet.
    Opinions differ about this stone. Others say and believe it is the truth that this
