    One night James Kavanagh was going up by Mernaghs...

    One night James Kavanagh was going up by Mernaghs lane in Ballymacrow and he met a man and the man asked him to play a game of cards, they played several games and when they were done playing the man said go over and get me two rushes out of that tuft and do what I do with it so he pulled it through his legs and the other man did the same and they were mounted on two horses and the man said he had to go to meet a girl and he told James that when he would go no matter what joke was passed not to say "God bless us" When they went there the girl and the man went up into the rafters After some time something happened and Kavanagh said. "Oh God bless us and he had to walk home from
