    Epidemics
About 56 years ago there was an epidemic of smallpox. In the town land of Ballygrahan there were people living by the name of Doyle.there was one of the Doyle’s living in Ballygrahan with his wife, and his brother was living near Tinahely. These people got the the smallpox and they were taken to Shillelagh fever hospital. They died. They could not be buried in a graveyard because the plague was so dangerous. They were buried in the corner of a field near the hospital. Everyone that got it died. All the people had to get vaccinated. It was a terrible (plaugue) plague. No one died in the district of Ballygrahan only the Doyles!
