Long ago people in this distric tused to "swap" horses, and if one horse would be a little bit better than the other, a lamb or small thing would be given along with the horse.
Story:
One time a man from this district named Mr.Wolohan, Ballintemple, was at a fair in Arklow.He sold a lot of cattle and got a good price. The banks were closed and he had no place to put the money. He asked Mr.Rafferty to keep the money, but he would not. The "Black and Tans" were going around at this time and he thought they might take the money from him.
