  1. Newtownmountkennedy from time immortal has been celebrated for it's Holy Wells.
    The old folk tell us that even in pre Christian days certain healing streams were greatly venerated by the people.
    There is a holy well said to be St Anne's well to be found in sight of Kilmurry Church. The people of days gone by used to pay great veneration and to perform certain religious "rounds" or exercises on the feast of the "patron" of this Holy Well.
