  1. To go round the pig sty three times in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, is the cure for the mumps.
The cure for rheumatism, was to light a great fire in a sweathouse, and when it was sufficiently warm, the fire was taken out, and green rushes spread on the floor. Then the patient went in, and sweated freely for about half an hour, then when he came out, a blanket was wrapped round him.
    The cure for the measles,
Clean the roots of nettles and boil them, and put sugar and milk on the water, and drink it.
    The cure for the stye.
Get nine gooseberry thorns and throw away one of them and point to the stye with eight of them, in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and Holy Ghost.
