    mossy bank. The wren, in a thick hedge. The sparrow, on the branches of a tree. The starling builds it nest in the eaves of houses. The blue-tit in the walls of old houses. The pigeon builds its nest in a high tree, also the hawk and the magpie. The cuckoo builds no nest, it generally lays its egg in the hedge-sparrow's nest.
    The swallow builds its nest in an old house, and the swift and marten build either in an old house or under the eaves. The corncrake and the lark in the grass. The water hen builds its nest in the reeds at the side of the lake, and the wild duck also builds in the reeds. The swans build their nests on an island if they can find one, and if they cannot find an island they build along the shore. The curlew builds its nest on the shore, or on cliffs or rocks.
