    It barks whin and broom
    When the wind is from the Station (north)
    You shoulder your spade
    When the wind is from Tirwoonican (east)
    It is the worst ever made
    The south-west winds bring most rain to our district.
    Signs of coming storm. Animals -
    when a dog eats grass it is the sign of rain
    When frogs are black it is the sign of rain
    When a cat sits with her back to the fire - sign of rain
    When a cow blows through a ditch - sign of rain
    When rats or mice come into the house - sign of rain
    When weasels bark in the ditch - sign of rain
    When badgers sit on windy side of a burrow - sign of rain
    When a horse stands with his back to the ditch - sign of rain
    On a wet day if cows seek shelter it will clear but if the continue feeding it will rain all day.
