  1. The Local Fairs
The biggest fair in this county was held in Stradone where all boys and girls went to enjoy themselves, but there is no fair held there now.
The cattle fair in Cavan town is held on the Fair Green Hill, and the horse and pig fair is held on the streets.
When an animal is sold a luck penny is given to the man, who buys the animal. When a bargain is made, they strike each others hands and wish good luck.
When animals are sold they are marked with keel and some are marked with muck. The man, that sells the animal generally gives the halter with the animal.
The 14th, May and the 12th, November are special days for young bonhams. There are also the hiring fairs.
