- Long ago shops were not as plentiful as they are now and they were only to be had in little villages therefore people who lived in the county had to have some way of making purchases. People used to exchange goods with their nearest neighbours. I have heard of goods being sold after Holy Mass and after meetings, foot-ball matches and such gatherings, when a crowd of people were sure to be together. The goods sold this way were :- boots, shoes, and groceries. The only goods sold this way now are fruit, sweets(continues on next page)
