1. A Funny Story

   Once upon a time there lived in Ireland a small boy and his mother. They were very poor and they used to cut heather on the mountains to make brooms which she used to sell at the market. They had a cow also which they used to mind on the mountains. One day the boy felt tired, and he lay down. He had not lain long there before he saw fairies dancing and playing football about the place. When he stood up, the ball hit him in the eye which nearly blinded him, and when he recovered not a trace of the cow was to be seen.
   It was too late that night to go and look for her but as soon as morning came the mother and boy started looking for the cow. At last they found her in a boghole but of course she was dead. Some time
