- It is said that a child born in Whit week is unlucky, and that a blow from such a person, later on, may kill. Such a child is called a "Cincisín". There is said to have existed a custom of counteracting the bad luck, by digging a sod or 'scraw' and placing it on the child's head: the story goes that such a child 'is put under a sod'.If a cow calved this week the calf was placed in a hole dug for the purpose and a sod placed on him.The same was done with a foal born this week. And the foal was supposed to be doubly unlucky if he should happen to have a white star in his forehead as well.
