When all those were gone the landlord got a school built in Altbaugh called the "cottage school". Then the girls National School was erected in 1864. At first boys and girls, Protestants and Catholics went to this school, until twenty four years later a school was erected for the boys near to the girls. Now the Protestants have a school also near the village of Stradone.
