  1. Long ago the people made a lot of potato-cakes. First they boiled some potatoes. Then they peeled them. After that they bruised them with the bottom of a porringer. Next they put the potatoes into a basin. Then they added some flour, caraway seed and a pinch of salt. Then they mixed all the dry ingredients together. Next they wet it with water and mixed it together into a stiff dough. Then they put it on the pan over the fire to bake. When it was baked they took it up and cut it in four quarters. The ingredients the people used long ago when they were making potato-cakes were flour, potatoes, salt and caraway seed.
