- There is a lone bush growing on my father's farm. It is a large whitethorn bush standing by itself in the middle of a field.
There are many queer stories about this bush, but some of them may not be true. Some people say that it is unlucky to touch it, because fairies have been seen around it often.
Once upon a time, a very brave man made up his mind to go to this bush to see, if there would be fairies there. One night he started on his journey to the bush, but on his way a queer small looking man, who was a fairy appeared before him, but the brave man did not say anything to him, because he knew it was unlucky to touch fairies; and though he thought himself brave he fled home, ashamed to tell his story.- Collector
