    they bring spades with them. They begin at the top of the ridge and the first thing they do is they stick the spade down beside the stalk and then they lift up the potatoes with it. Then the separate the potatoes from the stalk and leave them on the ridge to dry.
    After that the potatoes are picked and put into pits in the field, but all the potatoes are not put into pits. Some of them are taken home to the farm - house.
