    meat The people used kill a "bullocín" Then they salted the meat like bacon. These times "bullacíns" were cheap and got (them) for fifteen shillings.
    When people were going out to work they used always carry a piece of oaten bread in their pockets.
    "Stirabout" was again eaten for supper and when the oaten meal ran short they ate potatoes instead.
    On Hallow Eve culcannon was always eaten and on Srove Tuesday pancakes and bacon and "champ" were eaten. The old people used to go to bed early and before they would go to bed they would take a drink of poteen. No tea was drunk unless at Easter and Christmas.
