- In this district certain days are looked upon as being lucky, and others as being very unlucky. Tuesdays, Saturdays and Fridays are supposed to be lucky days to begin any important farm work. Friday is supposed to be a lucky day for changing from one house to another or going to a new house. Saturday is an unlucky day, and the old saying is "Saturdays flitting makes a short sitting". The last week of March, and the first day of April are thought ti be lucky periods to start planting the potato crop.
It is not lucky for any person to sink a grave on a Tuesday as the old people say that some of the family would die soon afterwards. If it is necessary to sink a grave on a Tuesday a sod should be taken off on Monday, and then it would be no harm to sink it on Tuesday.
A strange woman should not be allowed to enter a house on New Years Day as the old people say she would bring away all the good luck for the year.
Sunday is the luckiest day for putting poultices on sores as Our Lord healed the sick on that day.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
