- There is a fairy fort in the townland of [Confass?], Kingscourt, Co. Cavan. It is said that a man came up out of it about fifty years ago. He went into a house which was beside the fort, owned by a family named Tinnelly. The stranger asked for work. The man of the house asked him to make some clothes. The stranger began to sew, and sewed away for some time. When he wished to talk, he used take a marble out of his pocket, and place it in his mouth.He had a very poor appetite. He worked magic on several occasions. After a couple of weeks he went away. He went down the steps into the fort. The fort was a hiding-place for people during the Danish invasion.There are forts in the townlands of heiter Cornakill, Dingin, parish of Kingscourt, Co. Cavan. One fort may be seen from another. They are all circular in shape. There is a fence of trees,(continues on next page)
