- My informant (Billy Bodel) remembers one family called Jackneys, who in his time made linens. In his father's time there was a loom or two in nearly every farm - house working.
At Simpson's mill at the Vale, Bailieboro', woollen cloths were made. It was working until about 30 years ago. Very good tweeds were produced for 2s/8d per yd. for common wear. The very best tweeds were also produced.
- Adams of Shiran at Shercock had a broth-house in the Famine Time. There was another at Knockbride Rectory, beside where John King now lives.
- He mentions that there was a Turn-out at Killmacaraw, as well as at Skeagh.
