    As a soldier and a sailor went walking one day,
    Say's the soldier to the sailor: "I'm now going to pray."
    And if I pray for one thing, sure I'll pray for ten,
    And for each thing I pray for let you say "Amen."

    The first thing I'll pray for, it is for strong beer,
    To make us right happy, and give us good cheer.
    And when we get one pint, that we may get ten.
    "Then, we'll soon be blind drunk," says the sailor "Amen."

    The next thing I'll pray for, it is for Parnell,
    That he may live happy, when Buckshot's in hell.
    And when he passes one Bill, that he may pass ten.
    Then we'll soon have home Rule, says the sailor "Amen."

    That she may live happy and short may she reign
    And when she loses one man, that she may lose ten.
