    Verse III
You know right well my courage fell at hearing this sad news
And he sent me to the Blacksmith to regulate my hooves
To that old knave I was a slave until he continued
And he sold me to Montgomery to drive me in the van
    Verse IV
He was an old reviver and the Bible he did read
He told me the morning I'd have to change my creed
I quickly made an answer saying your conscience must be cold
Do you think an asses bardard is going to lose his soul
You know the old veteran he does watch me like a theif
Both he and I were lazy and he derant use the stick
For if he would abuse me I'd wound him with a kick
