When the potatoes are dug with spades they are left in rows on the ground. When they are dug with a potato-digger they are scattered over the ground and a number of people gather them and put them in pits. The pits are covered with clay and rushes to protect them from the rain.
When one farmer is finished he helps another to gather his potatoes. They also exchange horses and farm implements. The names of the potatoes are Kerr Pinks, Aran banners, Aran Victors, Aran Crests and Epicures. In this district there are more Kerr Pinks than any other kinds.
