- Oat meal bake
Oat meal bread was the most common kind made in this country about a hundred years ago but it is not made at present.
Some oat meal was got and put into a baisin and a little pinch of salt was added and sometimes sugar.
It was wet with warm water until the dough because tough. It was put out on a bread board and kneaded. When it was made they put it standing upright against the fire and the cake was left there until it was baked.
The bread when baked was almost a black colour and it was very heavy.- Collector
