  1. In Royal Meath in famed Loughcrew Oliver Plunkett he was born
    The Martyrs roll of Holy Church his name it does adorn
    Whose soul is now in heaven's joys, and wears the Martyr's Crown
    It is the brilliant star of the Irish race for many centuries down.

    Can we ever doubt our martyr blest upon his first feast day
    Obtained that gift for his native land after centuries of dismay?
    The truce took place upon that day the peace Angel hovered round.
    Soon in serried ranks the English troops were marching homeward bound.

    Now let us (hope) who live in happier times think oft on those who've gone
    Who've handed down the faith to us from bleeding sire to Son
    May the truce of Blessed Oliver's feast
