    The Bunnoe hills were wrapt in peace, 'twas Christmas '24,
    The sweet church bell rang loud and clear to call us to adore
    The infant Lord of Bethlehem, whose holy life began
    In a stable of dumb animals for love of mortal man.

    When I looked into this lowly crib my earthly eyes did see
    A tiny babe of beauty rare beside its mother's knee,
    "Are you the Lord of Heaven?" I asked "in such an humble state"
    Why are you here in poverty & you the Lord so great.

    To gain your's heart's love I'm lying here on this rough cold bed of straw
    To atone for the guilt man has
