  1. A red sky at night is a sign of fine weather,
    A red sunrise is a sign of rain.
    When surrounding objects are clearly reflected in the water of the lakes it is a sign of rain.
    If the mountains appear to be very distant, it is a sign of fine weather, when they seem to be near rain may be expected.
    South-west wind bring most rain here.
    When frogs croak and curlews "whistle" it is a sign of rain.
    When cattle choose the higher parts of the land to lie on it is a sign of rain.
    When the moon has a halo round it or when it "lies on its back" is a sign of rain.
    Soot falling down is another rain sign.
