    On the morning of the 30th of January, 1836 after a week of storms from the North West, the Coast Guard on duty for the day in taking his usual walk along the cliffs, about 7 a.m. discovered a large vessel dismantled riding by two anchors amidst terrific

    after thrown ashore and decently buried but those of the poor men were not found for some time.
    This vessel was bound for New Orleans from Liverpool with valuable general cargo which had left Liverpool 14 days earlier. The cargo was washed ashore with the exception of the ironwork which was saved by a diver from Liverpool.
