- Shops were not so common in olden times. People used to go to an other man's house and make a deal. Labour was often done in exchange for some articles. The words that are used in buying and selling are tick and boot. Saturday is unlucky for buying or selling. Markets were held in the towns. Buying or selling was not carried on after Mass.
