    luck penny and it is calculated according to the value of the animal.
    When a bargain is made the parties concerned show their agreement by striking hands.
    The animals are marked sometimes by clipping the hair with a scissors or by dipping a stick in the mud and (strick) striking them with it. They are often marked also with cattlemarker.
    If an animal is let to the fair with a halter, the halter is not given away when the animal is sold.
    The greatest fairs of the year held locally are at Christmas. There are special fairs held in Longwood and Kells and sheep fairs are held in Trim.
    There are no fairs held on sites which were once scene of Aonachs in ancient times.
