- (continued from previous page)limestone "cliffs". There St. Feichin had his little monastery, where he lived in solitude with his community of monks. Around the abbey was a great wall which had five gates. When the Normans came they plundered and robbed all the district around Fore, seizing the monastery and taking all the precious ornaments, chalices etc. De Lacy knocked part of the monastery and built a castle for himself there. The ruins of the castle are also to be seen to this day.
When St. Patrick was travelling through Ireland, while passing through Fore, he looked heavenwards and saw a host of white birds hovering in the air. He blessed the little village and said that one day it would be famous throughout the world on account of the wonders that would be worked(continues on next page)- Collector
