Baronstown which is situated about half mile from Ballynacargy in Co. Westmeath is the largest estate in the district. The monks have lived there long ago and one day they got all their sacred vessels and threw them into Lock Owel rather than let Cromwell and his soldiers get them. The story is told that afterwards an old fisherman, while rowing his boat down the lake, struck the bell with one of his oars and the bells could be heard ringing for miles around.There is also an old Abbey not far from this lake. There are two caves leading from this Abbey, which are a couple of hundred miles long and it is said the monks(continues on next page)- Collector
