  1. In this part of the county there is no mention of a hedge school or hedge school master. Yet a school existed about 90 years ago in the district. It was held in Ballynoe in the yard of a man called Hunter. The site of the old school is now occupied by a barn owned by a descendant of Hunter. The present man's name is
